I was happy to pay $40 for the System Shock Remaster as it was a whole new engine, new everything, almost a completely new experience. SS2? I can do that with mods! I am more than happy to post some mod pics that may be better than what they are doing.

$19.99 for what I see there.

I saw the same thing with Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 lately... At least with that one you get 2 games for $30.

This one? $30 for what I am seeing - hard pass! I have so far passed on the Soul Reaver ones too... The originals are fine.

These remakes are Crap. Getting tired of remakes. The System Shock remake? Awesome!

These high res texture overhauls for $30 is pure money grab.

If Nightsive or Whomever is doing this SS2 Remaster wants respect... Put it into the new SS Remaster engine. Enough said.

I think you mistanderstood... SS1 got a remake, SS2 got a remastered... they are two different things.
SS1 is basically a new game made from scratch, they basically recreated the original game with a new gameplay that feel more modern.
SS2 remastered is just what you said... SS2 with mods (they just implemented them in a way to make it easier for people to play on modern system).

That's also the reason I will buy SS1 remake (eventually... I need to finish a few games in my backlog), but I will not buy SS2... I already played both SS1 and SS2 but I know SS1 remake is a different game, that's why it make sense to buy it.

Still, both SS1 and SS2 still works great, if you don't need the mod (or you know how to install them) just use the original game. I would even say people that enjoyed the remake of SS1 should at least try to play the original, it's an amazing game.

Word "remaster" is used rather willy-nilly these days. Anyways, to me it looks like what we are getting with SS2 now is basically more or less the same we got with SS1 Enhanced edition. ...if i was pessimist, id say the reason is because SS2 Enhanced edition was promised for free to preorders of SS1 remake and someone somewhere in the company decided to find some excuse to undo that.

WE'll see.
My testing: I just made SS2 look 'better' than the screenshots for the remaster.

Running at 3840x1600 UWD too.

Not sure what they intend to bring, but I am not going to get any hopes up. They probably threw together a bunch of mods and expect people to pay $30 for it.

This looks like a major cash grab. Nothing more. See 'The Thing' for details on what I am talking about.

Edit: Expect them to pull the original SS2 off this store when the Remaster hits too. Can't have people doing what I did.

If anyone cares, here are my mods to do this. Note that dmm.exe is just a mod installer. The rest are the mods.

dmm.exe
Four Hundred v21U.7z
SHTUP-ND beta 2.7z
RealSG_1.06.7z
SS2_Prison_Event_1.0.7z
SCP_beta6.7z
SS2_Rebirth_v05b.7z
SCP Death Taunts.7z

Note the the prison event simply enables and event that never made it to release, and the Death Taunts also enable something that never made it into release either.

Pic of the remaster one of the same enemy.

The modded one is far more creepy looking with broken chest and the body morphing into who knows what.

That´s just your opinion. I like the remastered ones far more.

Not to mention they FINALLY did the game justice by doing proper upscaled models from the OG, which stay true to the original, instead of that horrible mess of Rebirth mod: all those models are like taken from a different game, they does not fit the design of the rest of the environment, nor the atmosphere.
