By harder I mean if there are more enemies or they are harder? I want to play it in coop, but I don't want to loose challenge that it offered when I played it in single player mode back in the day.

the difficulty is locked to "hard" and you will be sharing all the resources.

The cost of items at the dispensers is the same as it is in medium though, I'm guessing damage and other things are the same?
