So, at 1920 the hud is pretty small. Aside from running the game at a non-native res, is there any way to change its scale?
see the sticky (useful links).

I read the sticky and it was no help which config file do you edit?

Can someone please explain in simple terms.
Can't be said any simpler than the "hud scaling" link in the sticky....
you set the hud to d3d_disp_scaled_2d_overlay 1280 800, which will give you 1280*800 hud in your 1920*1200 screen
cam_ext.cfg like almost every other tweak.

I just added

d3d_disp_scaled_2d_overlay 960 540

to the cam_ext .CFG file using notepad.

Find the above file in the SS2 folder and double click it. Open with notepad, add the above line and close. Save on confirm and done.

Worked for me running 1920 x 1080
cam_ext.cfg, right in the system shock2 folder.

Many thanks that was far easier to understand. I'm running at the same res so all sorted now many thanks for your help.
I put that and it isnt changing anything for me, the HUD is still a bit too small.

Make sure its not the one in the doc folder you are changing
There's one thing you guys left out: You must delete the semicolon that's in front of the d3d_disp_scaled_2d_overlay entry in order for the game to enable HUD scaling.

Do you just add this line at the bottom?
Did that and my HUD dissapeared?
C
you do not add anything. just remove the ; from the beginning of the line.
