So the SShock series are the predecessors to the Bioshock series, but what I fail to see is the connection.
What I rather make a connection to is actually... Dead Space.

How? Well, same plot really. Humans have learn to travel the distance between stars and during an ex-cavation on some planet they found some evil burried beneath the planet. Both Dead Space and SShock has this in common.
But we're not done yet. Both games also have the same villain, a parasite taking over corpses and make them to their own bidding, like, killing you for example.

I'm not saying in any way possible that this is bad. No no. I love both series, and the Bioshock series (except the third game, grrr). I just like to find the similarities.

WHatchu think, insect?
Well my thoughts would be: Yes, it's pretty obvious where did Dead Space draw its inspiration from, and to me it always felt like much more of a spiritual successor to SS than Bioshock ever did.
Bioshock has more similarities in terms of gameplay, and it's made by the same studio, so it's more of a spiritual successor than Dead Space.
JimmyTMalice: Actually, as far as gameplay goes, it doesn't. There are similar mechanics - actually, a lot of them are a carbon copy of what we've had in System Shock - but Bioshock just doesn't really feel like a survival horror game, it's more of a pure FPS with a gimmick. Dead Space, on the other hand, has a progression system which forces specialization, utterly unbalanced weapons (hehe, now we can act as if that's intentional :D) and a lot more survival horror elements than Bioshock.
