Damned! I created several of these changelog threads today and copy&pasted the text. Changed the version number, but didn't see that the title was there as well. Seems I have to go through all changelog threads again. :(

Bump.

(Yes, I know it has been mere hours, but inquiring minds want to know!)

Apparently it is an unofficial patch though I don't know what it changes.
Don't want to be rude, but one simple web search could've enlightened you all.

Honestly, I wish GOG wouldn't include unofficial patches in their downloads. Sometimes I prefer to play old games completely original, bugs and all. If I want to apply unofficial patches, I'll do it myself. They've done this with other games, even breaking some in the process. Until the Bethesda re-releases, the GOG Fallout 2 would not work because of an unofficial engine tweak they included. Luckily I have all of my GOG installers and extras backed up on external HDs, so I keep my original installers when they do this.

Uhh, well in this particular game is completely unplayable on modern systems without the fan made "new dark" engine. It was this engine that made the Gog and Steam releases possible. The original dark engine just doesn't run, not without a lot of effort back on windows xp.. God knows what it would be like on modern windows 10...

That's the reason gog uses fan pacthes. So many games don't work in anyway that would allow for a commercial re-release. People can't buy things and have it not work on installation.

Well, actually it wasn't "fan made". It was a leak from a mysterious person (supposedly a former developer) who had access to the source code, which enabled him to create source ports for Thief and SS2.

Uh, well if you're going to argue semantics. By definition "mysterious person" means we have no idea who the heck made the new dark engine. So what the heck do you know? Do share. It is hardly an official product and that should be good enough to mean "fan made".

nothing wrong with updating, but I have just checked the release and whoever was applying the update forgot to import all the cfg/ini tweaks from the previous build, AGAIN.

guys, seriously? the GOG fixed package has been around here for months now (though the link got deleted with the old update topic, it seems), so let me link it for you again.

better performance, better visuals, and some extra tweaks for increased mod compatibility. I can get into details if anyone is interested.

I've tried to search the board but I can't find a definitive answer. Do I still need to add SHTUP to the latest version or does that fall into the NewDark part?

Thanks :D

Also interested in what differences does the version voodoo posted make?
