In a way, yes, but only later in the game. BTW: Right-click on eggs before destroying them, some contain items useful for you. You need a high-enough research skill and the appropiate chemicals, though.

I'm pretty sure you can later in the game get some stuff out of the Annelid eggs that allows you to regenerate PSI.
Although, as Marvin said, you will have to research them first before you can use them.
