monzaparco: Good morning everyone, after more than 20 years I'm replaying this MASTERPIECE through Gog but I followed various forums and I would like to install the port through this

https://github.com/swfans/swars/releases/tag/0.3.8.2795

I can download the file I unpack it but it gives me an error message.

Excuse me, unfortunately I'm not very practical, there is some pious soul who can tell me step by step how to do it.

I have both the original version and the Gog version

Thank you very much

PS is there maybe an installer?
What error did you have?

You're on the right path, if you're using Windows you want swars-0_3_8_2795-win32-setup.zip
from the linked page, that is the installer. Unzip it and run the executable inside.
This supports all known versions of the game, including the GOG one. It should find your GOG install automatically (let me know if not) and install from there.

I recommend also reading the wiki, which explains how to use improvements like HD screenmodes, etc.

Good morning everyone and thank you for the replys.

Sorry if I'm answering only now but the fact that I'm playing a 1994 game makes you understand that I'm a little bit old and therefore the time unfortunately to devote to our beloved video games is little ...;)

So the main problem (i.e. the absence of music and sounds) I solved it by practically completely uninstalling the gog version (on which I had loaded an old installer taken from a link above in the post) while the other problem which was a resolution lag was probably caused by the default split screen loaded on my 21:9 monitor

When I disabled it everything now is ok

Among other things, with this port is eliminated the famous mouse bug that randomly (and generally at the end of a mission...) got stuck on one side of the screen requiring the exit from the game ....

However, I take this opportunity to really thank all those fans who have revived this forgotten and underrated masterpiece

LONG LIFE TO THE QUEEN AND TO THE RETROGAMING (GAMERS) ;)))
