I used to play this in the 90s and gave up because of a bug that affects many of the weapons (pretty much all except the minigun it seems). Upon firing, one or more agents will randomly have their weapon energy reduced to zero.

This is a big problem for obvious reasons but I don't see anybody else talking about it. It's happened to me across multiple PC versions on multiple PCs so it must be a thing other people have encountered.

Does anybody know if there's a fix?

I've made a video illustrating the problem but I'm not allowed to post links at the moment. Please ask and I'll link you to the video in private message.

This is not a bug. This is explained in the manual.

Without that feature, there wouldn't be much pressure to research all the weapons which your agents already own.

No way! XD

I used to read manuals religiously in the 90s so I don't know how I missed that. Thank you so much, I'm going to give it another go now.

The other issue I had back in the day was that I could never find a way to make more money. I understand that there are banks on some maps but I don't know what I'm looking for so I'm sure I miss them, so you know about that?
> I don't know how I missed that.

If I remember right, there's only a single sentence on that. Not that hard to miss.

> back in the day was that I could never find a way to make more money

Yeah, I had the same issue. I learned how to rob banks from gaming magazines.

There was also that FAQ, but as it had no images, I didn't know what building to look for.

Anyway, today you can know what loot is available on each level from my walkthrough. And screenshots of banks are also on that site.

I've been using that site, thank you for maintaining it! Really grateful for your help and now enjoying dying over and over again in the game. I'm sure I used to be better at games than this XD
as others have said, this isn't a bug but part of the game. you have to research weapons so they can be used properly without a chance of draining all your weapon energy.

Another way of making money at the start is by selling weapons (was the same in the original syndicate game too). Get your agents to pickup weapons you don't want to you can sell them at the end of the level. Also read the netscan as it sometimes tells you where banks are.
