I've just discovered that the version of Syndicate sold on GOG isn't english-only as specified on the store page. You can play it in french and maybe other languages too (not sure in which languages it was translated at the time).
To play in french, go in the game dir, open the script dosboxSyndicate_single.conf and change the option of main.exe from c0 to c1 like this:
@main >nul: /iirq7 /idma1 /iio$220 /c1
You may try values other than 1 to see if other languages are supported.
(EDIT: whoops, made a typo in the post title, should be "how-to", of course. Can't seem to change it, maybe an admin can.)
