I love this game. It's even better than Audiosurf, which is saying a lot, since I loved Audiosurf. You know what would make this game even better? I have a few ideas.
1. The ability to play a random song would greatly speed up gameplay. I already love all of the songs in my library, so I wouldn't be upset if any of them were chosen.
2. Weapon management should be compressed. With only 3 visible weapons at any given time, it gets hard to find my Double Cannons in the sea of Megablasters and Subwoofers. I would NEVER use a low-level item if I have a higher level one, so I would group all of the items by type and reduce the total number of entries.
3. I'd like to have the option of upgrading my weapons from the Ship Edit menu, so I don't have to guess which weapons are currently equipped. Like I said before, scrolling through all of those weapons is a chore.
4. Story immersion would be greatly improved if the infected artists were ones that I cared strongly about. For example, one of my infected artists was Tim McGraw. I like the song, but since I'm not a fan of country music, I only own one song by Tim McGraw.
If Symphony was able to import listening statistics from my media player, it could easily determine what my favorite artists are. For example, I use Winamp, Last.FM and VLC for my music.
If importing statistics is out of the question, Symphony could easily gauge my favorite artists by simply choosing the ones whose names show up most often.
5. Music corruption is barely noticeable. Only that one enemy that shoots lightning has any perceptible effect on the soundtrack, and all it does is mess with the balance. This is great on fast-paced, loud songs, but on quieter, slow songs, it hardly sounds different at all. What's more, this corrupting enemy is very rare and easy to kill. A wider variety of music corruption would be great, ESPECIALLY on the boss fights.
