I bought this game on a whim. I have audiosurf and love it, so I thought "what the heck" and got another music game. So far I think it is a cool idea, but has some issues.

For some reason my game will work really well for a bit then start stuttering and freezing, with my guy ending up across the screen from where I had him. This, of course, ends up killing me half the time and taking away from my score. I am going through the video options to see if that helps (Turning bloom off seemed to help a bit...) but the issue is still there.

I mentioned in another post that I think how the music is selected could be better. The way you get to the music is very odd - why not just have something similar to Audio surf? It is a more user-friendly browser, I think. I'd also like a way to show what items a player has opened up a bit better. When you have a music library of 10,000 songs, it can be a pain to find opened but not unlocked items.

I like the game, but I hope there are some patches and updates.

It's possible that another application starts stealing CPU power. Check if there are no other apps running in the background, like i.e. AV scanner.

Another possibility is GPU overheating. Symphony does not have VSync option, which means it can easily render 300+ frames or even more, depending on your graphics card. If the game constantly uses full GPU power, the card may run too hot.

EDIT: Actually, you can turn VSync on in-game, my mistake.

I will try that, thanks :) I'll come back and let everyone know what happened.

Edit: The antivirus on my computer seemed to be causing the issue, even when I had it off on gaming mode. SO I uninstalled it, since it was a trial anyway (Bitdefender, FYI. I didn't like my system very much and many things slowed down because of it.) I still get an occasional piece of lag, but I'm going to go through what is running on my PC in the background and see what is what.

Also - on the other thread a person was kind enough to tell me how to use the filtering mechanism in the game, so my issues with the song/item selection have pretty much vanished. Having a no filter option helps immensely. Of course, I also think I need to go through and organize my music in a more cohesive fashion...

Hey guys,
We are seeing the freezing/lagging issues and are looking into them. We DO have a V-Sync option in the Graphics menu (you have to restart your game). Also try toggling the input lag compensation in the options menu and see if that helps.

I hope this helped!

Hey, Deejrandom, I haven't had any issues on my system running this game with Microsoft Security Essentials quietly enabled in the background. For a free antivirus program is it both effective and very light on system resources.

Yes, sorry about that. Options are not accessible from the main menu and that got me confused.

Ha ha, we call that the "title menu"... but you are correct. For the history behind that, our users really wanted to have a stream-lined experience getting into the Song Selection screen (what we consider the "main menu")... ;)

I'm trying out Nod32 right now by Eset. It is effective and very lightweight. Bitdefender was a no go - It reminded me to much of why I hate Norton. I still occasionally have frame rate trouble, but that happened when I had no Firewall or anything running as well.

Ah. That explains why the 'title menu' doesn't feel like the main menu... hmm. Interesting choice. I don't know if it is good or bad at the moment, just different.

Ha ha! I'll take different over bad! But we do have some requests in for using keyboards to go back, etc...
