tomexplodes: How similar is it? From what I can tell, it sounds VERY similar. Is it as good? Better? Worse? I'd appreciate feedback from people who've played both. I hope it's better than Shmusicup, that game was boring as can be.
I think it is more frantic than Beat Hazard and Beat Hazard can get really insane. I like them both equally. Both games throw tons of enemies at you. Symphony is more claustrophobic - meaniing a small play area whereas Beat Hazard feels more open in that the directional movement works well in the more open "space" environment. My ONLY complaint about Symphony is that you can't select a song that exceeds ten minutes inlength. I tried to play a live version of Pink Floyd's Sorrow and got the message that the song exceeded the maximum song time limit allowed. Neither Audiosurf nor Beat Hazard have this restriction.
That said, Beat Hazard and Symphony both offer excellent, frantic gameplay - Symphony is a lkitter faster - a good thing.
They are inexpensive and both are done by indie developers. I would say get both to support these indie developers that create truly excellent gaming experiences.
