I'm really digging music with a lot of dynamics. Some are expectedly cool (pretty much anything by Gary Newman, NIN or Rammstein), but there are two standouts for me so far. The first is "7x70" by Chris August; it gets really intense toward the middle, then calms down for a moment and comes back in full force. Very cool to watch the game replicate this. But the jaw dropper was "La Villa Strangiato" by Rush. I figured the game would increase and decrease in color and intensity according to which part of the song it was on...what I *didn't* expect is that it would actually dissect Lifeson's solo in the middle. When he *just* starts become more intense and holding those long notes, the game **actually increases intensity when he applies freaking vibrato to a single note**. In other words, one note will start out mellow, turn red, and become mellow again. Absolutely incredible.

Of course, now I'm going through all my CDs, pulling out stuff I haven't listened to in years. lol (for better interpretations of dynamics, I'm staying away from live recordings due to the crowd noise).

Anyone have any favorite songs to recommend?
(EDIT to add: Pretty much anything by Nirvana fits this category, too)

Vox Populi from 30 Seconds to Mars is an awesome song for this game.
It starts with a bang but goes to low volume again and again.

I also used Rocker from ACDC, but that was just for fun.

Oh, and River flows in You from Yiruma is a good quiet song that fits well into this game.

The Black Mages - The Extreme

Starts out slow but it get's really intense. Especially when the electric guitar intensifies by a lot. Just lovely.

Gabber Robot - All your base are belong to us is also funny.

Oh on a side note. I played Trololo on it. Believe it or not, I died at 1:55 when he started laughing. <.<

Abaddon's Bolero by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Nice and relaxing to start, but over the course of eight minutes it gradually ratchets up the intensity until you're running for your life with a minute to go. Perfect!
I just achieved the top rank, on Mezzo-Piano difficulty, in Heart's "How Can I Refuse" and in Metal Church's "Start the Fire." I can't wait until this game catches on and the competition grows!
CoLD SToRAGE. He has a lot of free music on his site:

Music from AMIGA and PlayStation games he made sountracks for, and some other music too. Definitely check the track: Albino 2 - The Red Eye Mix, Symphony makes a nice use of it. It's in BUY MUSIC folder but it's free.

I broke out the Tiny & Big soundtrack along with some other old tracks.
C&C Music Factory yielded a rate phalanx gun.
The Clash resulted in the most deaths in a round for me. <sigh>

I also have been wearing "Electric Love" out.

Hex.

I am a classic rock person. Some excellent songs I have played include:

Tomorrow Never Knows, I Want You/She's So Heavy, Helter Skelter, Only a Northern Song, and A Day in the Life by The Beatles, Take it Back, Time, and Learning to Fly by Pink Floyd, Metropolis Part One by Dream Theater.

I have to say that this game is digital crack. LOL I am a musician and this game is becoming my "break" from creating music. Kudos to the developers!!!
I feel that uprocking - electronica or not - music fits this game best. Machinae Supremacy, various vg remixes (with special mentions of Dr Future's Wings of Death, Shokey's Soltax, and Hazel's Magic Funk).

The first two songs I've played were Oxygene 4 and Daft Punk's Voyager. Both were wonderful fits

Also, got my first furia off Star Guitar. It's Subwoofer Furia, so it's awesome.

Totally agree on Machinae Supremacy. But the best experience so far were The Glitch Mob «Drink the Sea» album and nervous_testpilot's Frozen Synapse OST. Also liked the «Lost Temple of Croatoa Suite» from Jamestown OST very much.

Also going to try it out with some chiptune music. Must be awesome.
Art Star and 10x10 by Yeah Yeah Yeah's are pretty intense. Lots of sudden jumps from blue to red.
For me, it's not so much just one song but a soundtrack. After playing through with at least 100 songs, the Babylon 5 soundtrack really fits it best. Lots of strings, percussion with some electronic thrown in. It may be an orchestra soundtrack, but it gets moving pretty fast in some tracks. I'd say in general the game play is a little slower than pop music, but when it gets fast, man is it fast. I'm trying the Alien soundtrack next.
Cheat The Hangman by The Doobie Brothers.

Might be an odd choice. It gets waaaaay busy at the end though. X-P
Rammstein was already mentioned, but specifically I was very impressed with how well the game meshed with the song "Adios."
