I love the art and the story of this game but it keeps getting random crashes after some cinematics or when transitioning to another scene, the game is so unstable and it's frustrating, today I played for about half an hour and I go three crashes in three different stages, I don't wanna ask for a refund (I don't think I can, either), I'd prefer to wait for the patches, but I've been playing it since it was released and no patch has arrived (only one I guess).

I would like to know if there's something I can do meanwhile. If deactivating something could get it working properly, I have a GTX 6550 card and 16 GB ram (I don't remember the processor).

I hope we get a stability patch soon, because those crashes are ruining a beautiful game and a beautiful saga.

Important that you id your CPU. Here you are:

https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Download and install. For info on your GPU:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Once you are armed with that knowledge, compare your hardware to the minimum hardware requirements listed on the GOG store page. Game should not be crashing like this.
Hello,

Thank you for your message.

First of all please check if your configuration meets the minimum requirements and if it does, please ensure that your drivers are up to date.

As indicated on Steam, here is what is required to properly play Syberia - The World Before:

OS: Windows 7 or higher
Processor: i5 6600 (3.30 GHz)
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 750 Ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850 / R7 260X
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 22 GB available space

If the issue still occurs, please let Steam check the file integrity and disable your antivirus for a short time (or create an exception) to see, if it solves the issue.

If nothing helps, please send us your dxdiag.txt file:

On Windows 10

- In the Windows 10 search bar at the bottom left of the screen (next to the Windows Icon) - type in the message: dxdiag
- the search result should show you a blue and yellow icon saying: Dxdiag - Execute command.
- if necessary, authorize the action in the following window
- once the DirectX Diagnostic Tool has finished loading, save the information as a *.txt file by clicking on "Save information", at the bottom right of the window

On previous versions of Windows

- Click on Start then Run, or Press the Windows + R (Windows key on keyboard)
- type in the message: dxdiag
- then click OK
- if necessary, authorize the action in the following window
- once the DirectX Diagnostic Tool has finished loading, save the information as a *.txt file by clicking on "Save information", at the bottom right of the window

Attach the file to your reply and send it back to us.

Hello--

I'm having a similar situation but I'm somewhere in the middle of the game. I can't seem to make it go any further than the scene after there is a shoot-out. I have finished the chapter called "Siberspiegel Refuge (part 2)" but it won't progress to "Musician District (Part 3)".

It won't let me attach the DxDiag text file for some reason, it keeps saying "Wrong file format!", is there a particular section can copy and paste for you? Or I can email perhaps?

Thank you for your time!

I bought 'Syberia The World Before' a few weeks ago and I think it's a great game. I absolutely love the story and I enjoy the puzzles, that are not too hard, but still it takes time to figure them out. They're a challenge. Gameplay is beautiful, the story is great and very enjoyable and intriguing. However, there are several moments during gameplay where the game crashes. I was able to 'fix' that by adjusting the video quality (to 'medium' or 'low' even) but now the game keeps crashing all the time -no matter what- at the end of the Refuge 2 chapter (shooting) and I can't move on to chapter Musician District Part 3. I have tried everything to solve this problem and followed every tip on this matter that I found on the internet. My virus program even went completely haywire at some point, because I tried to shut it down (that was one of the tips) and I had great difficulty to fix THAT (which is more important really, because there are more important programs on my computer than a game called 'Syberia'!) Honestly.... turning off my computer protection so I could enable some game to perform as desired... and still it doesn't work, because it keeps stalling at precisely the same moment when I tried to get through the scene?

This seems to be a bug in the game, especially because I found more reports from players on the internet who encountered the same problem at exactly the same moment in the game. I think it is strange that I should make all kinds of (safety) adjustments on my own computer to fix it. Other games and programs are running fine, 'Syberia The World Before' is the only game I have troubles with. The problem with the specific scene is a huge bug. And people who are playing the game shouldn't be bothered to put their devices at risk, because there is a bug in Syberia 4, which no one can solve, except from the programmers of the game.
This has got nothing to do with the personal devices of the players, this is about bad programming and a bug.

I revisited this game few months ago and there was no crash, even my laptop is under the minimum requirements. (I did contacted with the developer for other issue, and they told me my machine does NOT meet the requirements.)
I would verify the installation if it keep crashing.
Many years ago when I play FF VIII it keep crashing at one point, and after reinstallation the game run smoothly.

wongheiming: my laptop is under the minimum requirements. (I did contacted with the developer for other issue, and they told me my machine does NOT meet the requirements.)
There are "hard" and "soft" requirements. The "hard" ones must be fulfilled in order to run a programme, because it needs a certain "instruction set" (main processor, graphics chip, operating system functions,…) – without those being present, it won't run at all, or crash as soon as a missing function is being used. On the other hand, there are "minimal" specifications regarding the speed of the system, you can go below that, but you must, for example, decrease the graphics resolution, movement probably won't be "smooth", but generally it will run.
POTENTIAL FIX:

Hey guys soo I've finally managed to find a work around the random crashes, just play the game in WINDOW MODE @ the graphics settings, you don't have to change the texture qualit, remove vsync and lower the quality of shadows, for some reason full screen, messes with your hardware. I've also changed the resolution to 1768 by 992 Let me know if it works

I have just st arted the game. In the beginning some "how to" screens pop up. There is no way of getting out of these. The skip button is unresponsive, so are the mouse buttons in the example. Its really frustrating as I just want to go on with the game. Standard mouse drivers. Standard Acer Predator computer.

Not all actions are just "clicking" a mouse.
Some of them need you to hold the button, like filling up "energy" with animation near where you click. After filling up, release the button and the action will perform.
And some of them need to "drag and drop", too.

I know, but this is just information in the game, about secondary objects . What they are and what you can do. At the bottom there is a button with with the label skip. The buttonlights up when i move the pointer to it, but unresponsive. There is also a book-icon next to the informative text. This is also unresponsive. So I cant seem to get past this page/poster

OK, I took time to download and install it again.
I guess you're still in the very early stage, control Dana walking to the square, aren't you?
The skip button, you need to keep pressing it for about a second to get active, not a single click. You will see there are color filling around the button while you hold pressing.
If you don't like the tutorial at all, you can open the option and disable the tutorial, hints and other things too.
