You can try several things:

- Install DirectX9 as Windows 8.1 is missing some older components by default:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

- Run the game explicitly as Administrator, by right-clicking the game's shortcut and select "Run as Admininstrator"

- Try different compatibility modes, starting with Windows 7 and Windows XP: Right-click the game's shortcut => Properties => Compatibility tab

- Update your graphic card's drivers

- Try lowering your desktop resolution if it's set rather high like 1280 x 720 or higher.
Hi all, thanks for your help.

@triock - I tried it, but it didn't work :(

@DeMignon :
- new DirecX was installed
- I tried it as administrator
- I have newest graphics driver (NVidia GeForce 740M)
- tried with diffrend resolutions and compatibility omdes

but nothing works :(
Any other sugestion please ??
Not sure if you're having problems with Syberia 2 (as per topic subject) or Syberia 1.

Syberia 2 worked for me on Windows 8.1 64-bit straight after installation, so problem isn't Windows 8.1 64-bit

Syberia 1 I got a popup no 3d accelerator error, but worked when I set Compatibility option "Reduced Colour mode: 8 bit 256 colours", but on Game.exe not Syberia.exe, and launched Game.exe directly.

(My system is AMD 6670 rather than NVidia, running my desktop at 1360x768.
I do remember having black screen problems in the past with games that try to play videos, and it rarely turned out to be video card drivers, usually it was something like disable onboard graphics, disable all except 1 soundcard etc.)

Hmm, in rare occasions the game had problems when user names included non-standard characters. As you're from Poland, do you use any characters in your Windows user name that aren't ASCII (like in the English alphabet)?

If so, try creating a new Windows user (I'd use create an administrator account) on your system and only use standard English characters for its name. Log in and try running the game now.

Further, if you've got any anti-virus software running, also try starting the game while it's deactivated.
I've tried all sugestions and nothing helps :(
It's first game (Syberia 2) which I can't run.
Any other suggestions ?

Do you have two graphics cards installed? If so, run the game explicitly on one of them. Laptops with two graphic chips often have an option for this. On a Desktop PC disable techniques like SLI or Xfire in your graphic card's control panel.
Further make your graphic card's configuration as basic as possible. Go to it's control panel and disable all enhancements like Anit-Aliasing etc., maybe one of them is the troublemaker.

If nothing works, you can still contact support and let them try to sort out this problem. Though, you'll have to provide a DirectX Diagnosis report. Here's how to create one: http://www.gog.com/support/support_view/creating_a_dxdiag_report

DeMignon : Bingo ! That was two cards problem. When I've turned off one graphics card (NVidia) and only integrated Intel left, Syberia finalli run :)
I must say that it was first time, when I meet this kind of trouble.

Thanks for your help !
Nice! You're welcome.

Success for Syberia !!
I followed the link above to install DirectX9. Then I right clicked on desktop icon to run a compatability diagnostic. It said I should set it to XP service pack 3. So then I went into the properties and set it to XP Service Pack 3 and also to Run as Administrator and changed the screen resolution lower as well as clicking "Reduced Color Mode" as someone else suggested. Not sure exaclty which one(s) did the trick, but it worked and I'm playing the game now.
