I am having an issue with installing Syberia 1.

I can neither install it, neither uninstall it. Only I can manually delete it from the directory.

After installation it asks me to approve the scriptinterpretter app, to which I have tried to go yes an no.

Would be happy for some help.

Sounds like you aren't installing it via Galaxy. Have you tried this way, yet?

I have the same issue, installing via Galaxy.
When I click more detail when the "scriptintepreter" pop-up, it seems the certificate is outdated.
Created a help ticket. Hope they will fix the installer.

Yeah, you are right. I've tried right now and it gives the very same message.

Please, report back if you get answer from the support.

However, in the meantime, you can install the game via offline installer and import back the game into galaxy. This way it seems to work just fine.

After the installation is complete, go to the game folder and set Game.exe compatibility to Windows 7 and set it to run at 640x480.

I got a reply from Judaslscariot (one of the blue in the forum), said this issue will pass to the developer (guess it means GOG, not Microids) and close the ticket.
He did indeed asked if the offline installer work or not beforehand.
Guess we will have to wait at the time being.
For anyone who is impatient for a Galaxy installer fix, it can be installed from the offline installer and will be imported into Galaxy automatically / manually. (At least it is recognized by Galaxy in my case, when I install it while Galaxy is running.)
By the way, I don't need to set compatibility and it start just fine. (Didn't try any game play, just clicked around the main menu and options)
I can't install it either. I'll try the manual install
Hi All,

I also had to do a stand alone install, However, I'm also getting the following error message

---------------------------
Syberia - Initialization error
---------------------------
The 3D rendering engine could not be initialized
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

So how do I fix the 3D rendering?
I get the games (1 and 2) running but there was some graphic glitch (some texture turn black). Someone suggest using dgVoodoo2 so it can run on widescreen or 4K.
Another suggest using WineD3D for Windows, and I use this as a solution since it doesn’t require to install anything, only copy the appropriate DLLs to the game's executable directory. The only downside is it takes a little longer to start the game. If it doesn’t work with you, just delete the DLLs you copied and you are good to go to try something else.
For Syberia 1 and 2, it use DirectX 9. You can read the README file to find out which DLLs is required.

hi, I'm having the exact same issue. What is the offline installer please? and how would I import it back in? I am looking but so far haven't found any info on that. Appreciate it, thanks

As I mentioned in the earlier post, it was imported into Galaxy for me automatically.
If it doesn’t happen, you can click the setting (gear icon of upper left) > Add games & friends > Add game manually or Scan folders for GOG Games.
Of course, you need to install the game from the offline installer first.

Just in case it is not obvious to anyone, under the Extras tab there is a section called “OFFLINE BACKUP INSTALLERS”, where you can download and install the game.
It is also available from your game library on the website in case you don’t use Galaxy, but all user doesn’t use Galaxy already knew it.
