Syberia 1-2 will not launch after down loading. just comes up with black window in left hand corner of screen. I have tried changing compatibility etc... any ideas? Running Windows 10.

Yes ! .... at compatibility.. settings reduce color mode checkbox... put it 8-bit for the first game... and i think on Syberia 2 works on 16- bit noproblem..
If the game ask you for Direct play... write in the windows taskbar... windows feature and look for directplay and enable it.... windows will take some time to make the feature available.. Windows 10 :)

DirectPlay is at Legacy components folder in Windows Feature :)... if needed, activate it... no need for downloads.. windows 10 has this feature... but is turned off :)

thanks for replying, I have checked directplay is enabled and changed compatibility settings are correct... but unfortunately still doing the same.

Did you switched the exe of the game, proprieties...compatibility tab at settings reduce color mode checkbox... put it 8-bit (256) color ?_?

It is true that I play these games on Steam... with this changes, but it should work on this gog version too...
These are things that the developer recommended themselves.... If is not working... on the games exe try running the compatibility troubleshooter... from its proprieties... maybe...maybe..

Hi. I tried all the suggested compatibility changes for Syberia 1, but they didn't get the game running for me.

But then I read that the only compatibility tweak that actually matters is to check the box that says "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution". So, I did that, while undoing all the other compatibility settings changes I'd done, and then the game worked.

So, if it's not working for you after doing all of the commonly suggested compatibility changes, I suggest undoing them all and just checking the box that says "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" and try running it like that.

After installing the games you should have a support link for eath game in your start menu. Follow it and you get a FAQ where one point is a link to a downloadable player.ini. Download it and copy it in your Syberia or Syberia 2 folder. That worked for me.

Windows 10 warns you before downloading a .ini file, you have to click on it and allow the download (so working on MS Edge).

Can confirm this works. Apart from downloading you cna also just create a new player.ini file. The contents are the one line "800 600 16 0 BaseCMO.cmo"
