I just reinstalled The Pit: Gold Edition after a long time, and for the first time on Windows 10, and the game runs fine in the menu but then crashes as soon as I start the first level. I can move around a bit, kill some enemies, but inevitably it crashes and goes back to desktop. Using Windows 7/8 compatibility modes doesn't help, neither does running as an Administrator. Repairing the installation didn't fix it. I set up the game to fullscreen. Any suggestions or ideas?

Achievements were my first guess too. Could you post a link to the ticket if there's a discussion, for future reference?
Same problem - installed via Galaxy, crashes on first level. Running on Windows 8.1.
Same thing is happening to me. Running it on Galaxy with Win7-32bit.

In my case it was the galaxyachievements so i deleted the Galaxy.dll inside the game folder so i got no galaxyachievements but the game did not crash anymore.

I did as you said and the game works perfectly now. It's the Galaxy.dll file that is really breaking the game.

Please, GOG staff, do something to correct the problem.

Can also confirm the error. Has anyone done a bug report on Mantis already?

The game seems to be stable now. I don't know if GOG issued some sort of update but it doesn't crash anymore.

Honestly, the only thing I remember doing was "cutting" the galaxy.dll file and pasting it to the desktop (in order to test the file crash theory). Then I did the opposite (cutting the galaxy file from the desktop back to its original place).

Now it seems the game stopped crashing. If the problems return I'll post again.

This does seem to be fixed. I might be wrong but looks like the game was updated to 1.4.8.2 and now the achievements come through without a crash.
