REVIEW: It's Allite (5 out of 10)

Only played 3 levels of this game, and I can honestly say that's it really just "allright". My main concern is the REAL lack of nonlethal weaponary and combat moves necessary to apprehend suspects without severly wounding or killing them.

The beanbag rounds do practically nothing. There's NO takedown moves. No round house kicks, no front kicks, no karate chops, no head kicks, no tackles, no rifle butt to the head/shoulder/arm. In short, it's like an incompentant cop (just shoot 'em Johnny Narco!). It kind of sux if you're trying to get a 100% no kills game and you can't get the suspects to drop his weapon by yelling aT THEM!

Also kind of stinking is the squad AI. You're better off just leaving them outside and calling a team in if you need a lock pick or bomb disarmed (unless you want every armed suspect killed that is).. Still, the walkie communication menu is definitely a stand-out.

On the PLUS side, the GOG version comes with modding tools AND even some modding FAQ documents (available in the install folder). I guess I'll try to find a way to make the bean bag rounds do enough damage to NOT kill the suspects, but make them drop their weapons (yeah right) but I really need a bullet that makes people fly across the room without penetration....
Well, from looking at the config files (in the res archive), it looks like there are only two attributes for bullets regarding NPC interaction (health and skill loss). The beanie bags do as much skill loss per body area as the bullets, so, that means the problem is in the actual NPC data (i.e. how much damage until they finally can drop the weapon that is somehow glued to their hands).

I noticed in-game that if I shoot someone with beanie bags several times, they'll generally miss me (even when close). That's the skill loss.

Unfortunately, skill loss only means ability to aim well in this game (and thus they do not drop the weapon when their skill level reaches 0). You CAN go thru and change all NPC data to make them more passive (which will make them both drop the weapon AND surrender), but that probably ruins the game and would be a pain.

I dunno, maybe i'll try shooting them in the leg or something. Better to cripple for life than kill! Damn zombie guns! Bet when zombies are real, the guns and ammo we have now will suddenly become impossible to make. ;0)

Darn modding, it's always the thing that you want to mod that is impossible....
It's not impossible. You are just asking in the wrong forums on the wrong website.

And talking to the wrong people.
