I'm using all the possible lifehacks and "quality of life" fixes which are existing for the game, but still the fps is somewhat not consistent: empty portions of the level have relatively high fps like 110, and when the action starts - it quickly goes down to 35-40 fps... I'm using dgVoodoo (with fast video memory access), Last Resort open beta 4 with Windows 7 compatibility set, 16-bit color restriction set for every other executable in the game folder, and I have also applied several tweaks in the Nvidia panel - Max Frame Rate: 240 FPS, Optimize for Compute Performance: On, Power management mode: Adaptive, Threaded optimization: Off, Vertical sync: Fast, Image Scaling: Off .

Windows 10 Pro...

Has someone managed to get decent fps in SWAT 3 ?

You don't need to set Windows 7 compatibility any more with the newer beta of Last Resort mod. The code of the launcher was rewritten in a modern version of VisualStudio to prevent issues like this.

You mention the fast video memory access in dgVoodoo...I take it that means you have an AMD video card?

Which video card did you select in dgVoodoo to emulate? Have you tried other choices?

Generally with dgVoodoo properly running the only time I see a slow down is on the 2D menu screens slightly. I don't seem to recall seeing much of an fps issue in 3D portion of the game but to be honest anything over 30fps is good enough for me, lol.

I play everything 1920x1080 resolution is Swat 3 (both 2D menus and 3D game).

Well, I have Nvidia card - GTX 960 4GB.
My setting in dgVoodoo are like this:
[General]
Output API: Best available one
Adapter to use: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Full Screen
Keep windows aspect
Capture mouse
[DirectX]
Videocard: dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerated Card
VRAM: 512 MB
Antialiasing MSAA: 8x
Fast video memory access (without it the fps is much worse)

Short video to demonstrate the fps, taking a deep dive...

I am so sorry I haven't been back to this forum in a while. I am probably too late to help you but I will try to suggest a few things.

In the video link you posted you mentioned the following:
"with fast video memory access), Last Resort open beta 4 with Windows 7 compatibility set, 16-bit color restriction set for every other executable in the game folder, and I have also applied several tweaks in the Nvidia panel - Max Frame Rate: 240 FPS, Optimize for Compute Performance: On, Power management mode: Adaptive, Threaded optimization: Off, Vertical sync: Fast, Image Scaling: Off ."

Your DgVoodoo Settings:

- Fast video memory access probably should only be used for AMD cards. Just a theory anyways.
- On the DirectX tab I would choose VRAM of at least 2048MB not 512MB

Widows Settings:

- With the new betas of Last Resort you don't need to set Windows 7 compatibility mode.
- You shouldn't have to set 16-bit color restriction on the game executables

Nvidia panel settings:

- Personally I think you should set everything back to default until you have the game running better. Then slowly add changes to observe slow downs.

General Swat 3 Troubleshooting Tips For All:

If anyone is having problems I highly recommend getting your game to run properly before adding The Last Resort mod into the mix. The mod isn't a miracle fix for game problems by itself. Consider it an enhancer to the game.

- Fresh install of the game.
- Add replacement movies if your game crashes at startup.
- Add DgVoodoo2 and check if your framerate is acceptable
- Add Last Resort only if your game is functioning properly.
