hi,today i bought swat 3 tactical goty edition and when i launch it i can hear the intro (i guess) and the loading thingy... then it stopped to "loading scenarios" and i don't have a clue on how to fix it.
i never played it and never modded so i don't know where's the problem :/

i have a windows 7 64 bit
I have the same issue. DX installed, movies replaced with xvid-version, last resort installed, different windows versions tried in compability mode and still crashes after Loading Scenarios
Just bought it today. Same problem - stuck showing "Loading scenarios". Win7 64bit

Changing compatibility modes does not help...

Maybe the game did not install correctly, or you can download Swat 3 last resort and enable the option to skip the intro fixed it for me.

This could be a codec problem caused by the fact that newer versions of Windows aren't compatible with the movies.

As a test you could add the text "-nointro" to the shortcut for Swat 3. Right click on the desktop icon and choose properties. Look for the line that says TARGET. The contents should look something like this:

"C:\Games\SWAT 3\game\swat.exe"

Change that to:

"C:\Games\SWAT 3\game\swat.exe -nointro"

Please note that the quotes need to stay at beginning and end of the line. Make sure there is a space between swat.exe and -nointro

If the problem are the movies then you have the following ways to fix:

I have same problem and its no related to movie files. I have 2 sreens and when i launch game on main screen i see intro and then menu, while on part of second screen i seen black window with loading scenarios text.

Even if i can see menu on main screen i dont have mouse to click on anything and upper and lower left corners of screen are blinking

i got W7 64bit

i tryed -nointro, i tryed to run it as administrator
I had the same problem on Windows 7 64 bit. I managed to fix it by opening up the "swat3.cfg" file and changing adapter to "software"
Anyone still have a solution? I have been trying to find a solution for months now. After installation, the game seems to work. Then after going back or quitting and going back several times, and I got the problem similar to RaDiKaI, with the sounds of the intro and main menu playing at once before it crashes. Only way to fix it is to uninstall then reinstall, but then it persists again later on.

Things that didn't work:
1. DnC Scenario Pack solution
2.-nointro (this time only the main menu screen can be heard)
3. compatiability
4. running as administrator (disabling it actually made me get a few more tries before the problem happened again,)
5. Changing video codec (Couldn't run Swat 3 without the video codec, so I was already using the xvid files and this time ligos when it happened)
6. changing the adapter to software in the swat.cfg file (I was already using Software for lag purposes, and tried to change the adapter to Primary Display Driver)

and a few others I may have not remembered.

Running on Windows 8 64 bit. Greatly appreciate it if the solution is found.

Edit: I don't know if the problem will still persist as I have only just found this out for 20 seconds from the start I typed this, but when I put -window on the shortcut, I was able to go through the game without going back to desktop!

Second Edit: Yep it works, though I did have a few problems which I was able to mostly solve.

I just wanted to say that, after a solid year trying to get SWAT 3 to work off and on and trying *every* popular fix I've seen multiple times, it was this "-window" trick that FINALLY did it for me. I am so happy right now, since this is one of my favorite games and I can finally play it on my new computer.

I will note that adding "-window" didn't immediately fix it, but it actually threw me an error message (before it would only ever play menu music with no visuals). The error said that the program required 16-bit color mode, so I enabled that as well, and this combo (possibly along with everything else I had done up to this point) finally got the game working.

TheDude did you ever end up fixing your dgVoodoo and SWAT3? If not go to the SWAT3 Reunited Teamspeak, they can help you fix your game.
