Just bought SWAT4 Gold Edition and was wondering if there was any way to run the game at 1080p?

Do this after you have set the rest of the graphics settings to what you want. Find the Swat4.ini file in SWAT 4\Content\System and Swat4x.ini file in SWAT 4\ContentExpansion\System and change all the viewportx entries to 1920 and viewporty entries to 1080. There are several (ignore the last few that are set to numbers that don't look like a resolution, like -23 or 65500). Then save and set the files to read only (right click, properties). The games will pop up a warning every time on start up and on quitting but it just says they couldn't overwrite these files, which is good, because if they could they would automatically change back to an officially supported resolution. You can just click ok/press enter through the warnings every time. Most guides just tell you to change this or that entry, I say just change them all to avoid instances where the game or its menus still launch in super low resolution and mess up your desktop arrangement and what not, it happened to me a handful of times before I got it right. The HUD and menus will be stretched, but I think the 3D view is fine (with low FOV).

I tried this and it looks great but unfortunately you seem to lose alot of verticle view even if you push the FoV out.

Cant decide if I want to deal with that for just set it to 1400x1050. Hmmmm

Go to http://www.widescreengaming.net/wiki/SWAT_4 to edit Swat4.ini to change these lines as below

From

FullscreenViewportX=800
FullscreenViewportY=600
FovAngleDegrees=90.000000

To 1920x1080 and 16x9 FOV which is 108 degree

FullscreenViewportX=1440
FullscreenViewportY=900
FovAngleDegrees=108.000000

Then save the file and change file property to make it read-only.
You should ignore later warning message "failed to save Swat4.ini" from now on. I
f you want to change other settings, you will have to make it not read-only first, change settings in game then do the 1080p change and make the file read-only again.

I've just tried this, saved all the changes, made it read only and its still in 800x600

I strongly suggest you get the Elite Force Mod, as it offers widescreen support among other things.
