Does the game still crash if you play with the full amount of AI's on skirmish? I know this was a problem after you installed with the cd then used the updates to remove the cd requirement with all the updates they did for it. I am just wondering. The Crash seems to happen about 10 or more minutes after the game begins. Windows 7.
Played around a hour with cheating AIs on Seton. It crashed. I use Windows 10.

I have been told as long as you don't have the maximum amount of players, AI or not, it won't crash, but it crashes everytime if you have a full game. I have looked everywhere, but no one so far has a fix for this.

Well, from my experience playing both fully patched CD versions of original SC and FA, both will crash regardless how many AIs you use. I remember reading that AI in both have flawed script and I think no support for multi core CPUs is also responsible for crashes in skirmish mode.

Opportunity for an experiment! Create a virtual machine with Windows 10 installed (just let it be un-activated F the desktop image customization) and set the machine to have just a single processor. If it still crashes, then maybe the AI script--are the AI scripts viewable? Event Viewer may provide a clue.

From the sounds of it, it's been crashing its whole life...I wouldn't know. I've never played it but bought it and am about to return it to wait for a Steam sale for FA:Forever. Just lurking around here to see if there happened to be any success with FA:Forever & GOG version. Saw the multi-core CPU speculation and couldn't just walk away knowing how that hypothesis could be tested to either a solution to the problem or a reduction in dimensionality of the problem

Well... I can try it, but I'm using Oracle's VirtualBox. Probably not the best VM to use for gaming... yet.
Just played the map with 5 AI & me, 2 hours Cheating AIS, 3v3 no crash, So I am probably going to try the 4v4 and see if it crashes after 30minutes to 1 hour. I will let everyone knows if it happens. Win 7.
