If I don’t want to play multiplayer, does the game give the player the option to play against the AI after he is done with the single player campaign? How about random maps? Thanks

Yes, skirmishes are available.

Multiplayer maps = skirmish maps.

Of course, you can download additional community-made maps, but that's optional.
