Hi,

I love this game but so far I'm unable to find a lantern to help me light the marsh storage. Anybody can help please??

A couple of shops usually have a lantern or two for sale - try the junk seller or the pawn shop.

You should be able to buy more kerosene from one of those places as well.

It's easy to miss these due to the jumbled inventory display. I think lanterns count as "tools", so setting the inventory to display only tools (on the store's inventory) may make it easier to find.

Lantern and fuel - general store
Food cans - bar, general store, and junk seller iirc
Rations - have to be crafted?
Camping kit - haven't seen one on sale, didn't get unlocked through survival skill (lv5) either

Food cans count as "rations" - they're added to your total after you buy them at a rate of 1 can == 1 ration.. I think they can be crafted from that mystery meat you get from enemies using survival (guessing here since I don't have survival on current char).

Camping kits - I've managed to find these at the general store (pawn shop) and the junk seller. Their appearance is either random or time-based or both, with the pawn shop having 2-3 at most and the junk seller usually only having 1. I've also managed to find these randomly on a couple of occasions, from battles as well as re-checking those loot piles around town (pretty rare to find them like this though).

The junk seller also sometimes sells lantern fuel IIRC, though the general store usually has more than enough available whenever I've gone there.

If you have survival skills and mystery meat, you get to craft rations with food cans plus the meat.
Cannot simply buy it despite both are food.

Ah OK, I get what you mean now. They probably should have called it something other than "rations" then, since that's used as the generic term for all food/cans/etc. once bought/crafted.

I reckon I'll have to add survival for my next play-through, since I have so much of this meat at the moment and I don't think I can do anything with it - no one seems to buy it AFAIK.

The lantern can be found in shops and sometimes as random loot in containers ( I assume its loot since I sometimes end up with more then 1 Lantern) it costs around 190 cigs. and is one of the essential items in the game.


You can get camping kits as a random drop for fighting Carrion Dogs on the Adventure map or simply buy them in towns ; vendors usually replenish their camping kits after you rest a few times.

You can craft "rations" with survival 2 or buy any type of food (Canned Pumpkin, Camper's Canned Beans, T canned Spaghetti) that has the Ration written as its second line of text and a blue text that states "Can be used to suppress Hunger." on the bottom of its description.
