Stronghold features a unique way of playing an RTS, focussing on tactic play rather than timekeeping. And when I say tactics, I mean economically too.
You build a small settlement somewhere in Middle Age Britain and you need to get as many citizens as possible while holding off onslaughts from various kinds of opponents, what could be simpler?
There's a familiar storyline - nothing new but it fits nicely into the gameplay.
Hardcore RTS players may find this game a bit disappointing because of it's technologically lacking engine whereas everyday players will find this quite an agreeable title. There's no real threat from the simple AI and the limitations on the engine make it a bit boring, but this is a nice title to kill 20 minutes on.
In conclusion: Enjoyable but nothing special.
