Its probably been asked a lot but -

So I just bought the humble bundle sale item that has Mafia II and Stronghold collection in it and I'm finding that I can't play stronghold legends or stronghold 2 on my laptop. The others (Stronghold 1 and Crusaders, and Crusaders Extreme.) Work fine with not crashes. I'm on windows 8, and it opens the panel that allows you to change the graphics, I press play, it opens the game on a black screen showing the cursor then just minimizes to the tray and just wont open, just goes to a black screen and minimizes again. Its been installed through steam and I can't change the compatibility - as I have tried that but it doesn't make a difference.
