Hi all!
I know this might not be something many are interested, but you never know :)
I'm quite into DOS games and purchase almost every new DOS(Box) based release from GOG.com. I then spend a bit of time trying to get these games to work on a real DOS machine (In my case a Pentium which can be slowed down to behave like a 386DX or 486DX2).
Strike Commander seems quite simply. It mounts C with a few files on it and an ISO image as D.
What's odd however is I couldn't edit or burn that ISO image at all! Any ideas?
However I had no problems copying the files from within that ISO from within DOSBox into another folder. Then from Windows burn those files onto a CD.
That CD works flawless. Run INSTALL.EXE to choose installation folder on C and configure all the Sound Cards.
Now I'm trying to figure out if I can get this game to run without having the CD. So basically have all the large files (moves and sound files) on C.
Has anyone played around with this?
EDIT:
Ok I tried this:
copy all .tre (except liltre.tre, which is already there)
copy all .pak (except arena.pak, which is already there)
And it seems to work without the CD in the drive.
