As the topic says, can anybody confirm if this gem is compatible with any gamepad or, preferable, modern joystick?

Thanks!
I have a Thrustmaster Warthog Stick & Throttle with Saitek Combat Pedals, all USB.

Fired up Strike Commander and it asked me to configure stick one (move to top left, push button, move to bottom right, push button, then centre stick and push button).

Then, go to the in-game options menu and set joystick as flight control option.

Works like a charm ;-)

There is no in-game option to configure all the various buttons, you will need to create a profile for that using your stick controller software.

Also, I haven't tried to map the throttle control to my Warthog throttle, so I don't know if that will work or not.

Hi, Please suggest how to open in game menu? What I can find is only when save or load game but I can not find where I can setup my joystick.

Start a training mission, then press ALT O when in flight. The configuration menu will pop up.
I'm having some issues with my 360 gamepad, it did get through the calibration for the main menus, but lost calibration when I started a mission, and then wouldn't be able to recalibrate. The 360 gamepad has pretty poor sensitivity and requires quite a dead zone as far as I know, so I guess I'll have to look through the dosbox config files to see if I can do anything about it from there. I think it fails calibration because the sticks don't really return to the center position when they move freely, but since there's no way to cancel out of the calibration screen as far as I can see, it's pretty hard to play the game when you get stuck in a "calibration failed, try again" loop..
I have a many years old Logitech RumblePad 2. SC seems to works fine with it, however I did have to edit the c:\GOG Games\Strike Commander\dosboxSC.conf file slightly to get the pan-view working (one of the coolest features of the game).

If you have a dual-axis or triple-axis gamepad, change the joysticktype item to joysticktype=ch and then in the in-game options (hit ALT-O when you are in a mission) on the flight options menu, set both joystick types to FS PRO. Now the main joystick will function as your flight stick and the gamepad should pan the view around. F1 resets to straight. This helps a ton if you're in a tight turn chasing down a target or if you need to look behind you to set up a bombing run. Just don't fly into a mountain! :-)

Also useful, was running the install program and selecting General MIDI and Local Bus Video = Yes in the installer. The default from GOG.com seems to be FM synthesis music and I don't know what the video setting defaults to, but at the time Local Bus video was the "faster" choice.

Fly dangerous!
