Hey guys, does anyone know what the trick is to targeting ground targets? Hitting 'T' only seems to work for air targets, and cycling through ground targets via CTRL-F6 works fine to SEE the ground targets, but I can't target them. The result is I am forced to target by eye. I'd like to select a specific target that I see in CTRL-F6, then have the little diamond cover it so I can find and go after that target. Any tips or tricks?

Thanks!

EDIT: I found the answer hidden in a single paragraph on pg 144 of the official strategy guide. ;)

"Ground targets can be selected electronically only if within radar range. Also, the activated weapon must be one of the two smart weapons or the Vulcan cannon activated in Strafing mode."

The consistent problem I've been having is reliably scoring dumb bomb hits. The manual says you've to be perfectly level and all using the standard targeting mode, but even then I must score like half the time at best. And forget about hitting small stuff like AA guns. There's another mode which accounts for terrain elevation and such, but I haven't found it easier to use.

Anyone got any tips? I don't mean to hijack: seems reasonably on-topic.
Are you using the GOG version? With that I had no issues, but you might try to increase the DOSbox cycles with Ctrl + F12.

When I played before my GOG days with an earlier DOSbox version (0.63?), bombing was near impossible.

For the mobile anti-aircraft units, I use a dive + rocket pods + pull up approach - the rocket pods are cheap and you can even get the money to buy another aircraft (which didn't work for me in the game).
Hmm. While the manual calls for level flight, it doesn't quite mean that. My accuracy in CCRP mode has increased flying straight for a few seconds after arming the bombs: the longer the bombs stay armed before dropping and the straighter you fly (even at an incline), the better. No roll, of course.

And yeah, hitting really small targets like AA turrets is best done via guns or other direct fire solutions such as rockets, but still, even my accuracy against them with bombs has improved after understanding the former.

PS: No, I had to hunt around for the floppy version, since the GOG version which I bought earlier is the CD variant, and it has all sorts of AI issues.
