I'm loving the game so far, but, is there a way to speed up/skip text I've already read?

You've most likely finished the game by now, but no, as far as I know, there is no way to speed up the text portions of the game.

I highly doubt they built in a skip function (or speed up) since a big part of the experience is the anticiption for any changes in the text. That makes it not for everybody but for those with patience the reward is great.
