i started playing again my os is windows 10 64 bit, using the latest dos box version, also downloaded game save editor for the game where i maxed my health, hitpoints, weapons to 255, worked great until in the temple of throggie where you have to grab the orb from the left eye of the god and a weapon of your choice, when i approached the god i hear drake say "well" then it freezes after about 30 seconds i get a black screen with a dos message "error cannot read from file retry y/n" i hit y and nothing, then hit n and back to prompt to exit dos, any ideas?
As enjoyable as this game is, it has quite a few bugs. Bugs are caused by programming errors. The likely explanation for the behaviour you are seeing is that it is a result of encountering inputs - those defined by the parameters of your save file - that are not within bounds that the programmers ever expected to be encountered in practice. They might not have adequately tested for such inputs during quality assurance, or may not even have had the time to do so during the game's original development cycle. It could be something as banal as an integer overflow or perhaps some vastly more complicated error of logic.

In that case, there's not much you can realistically do. Given that the engine is not open-source, you would have to be able to reverse-engineer the binaries with a view to potentially correcting the defect. Or, you would need to know somebody that is capable of doing so and persuade them to actually do it.

Your best bet is to probably to try to use less 'extreme' parameters in the course of editing your save file.
