This is one of the games that really got me in to rpg's when i was younger and that i am thankful for =)
What really made this game so great is the gameplay, exploring those huge dungeons, what will happen when i walk in to the next room? you never know. awesome creatures and character to meet and kill and treasures to find are just some of the things that make this game so great, if you are looking for a challenge in the rpg genre this is a game to buy.
It is fun! Really my second rpg after playing Dungeon Master. I have messed with a lot of rpg's but never grinded away too much on them. Loved Might and Magic 6. On Might and Magic 3 right now. Stonekeep I bought new and finished, it was a one more turn game...
Definitely an addictive game. One of those games that you can't get out of your head. Even when you're in bed, on the train to work, at work, etc; always thinking of what to do or where to go next. Brilliant.
I remember playing Stonekeep back when it was first released. I still have my boxed copy. Since buying it from GOG I've been playing it again and it's still a fun game. I hope GOG gets more of these types of old RPGs.
I especially like what they did with the musical score & sound-effects integration in this game (to make up to some degree for the primitive state of graphics at the time)...if you are running Win8.x you *must* install the CoolSoft Virtual Midi Synth & some of the suggested sound founts from the site...! Best midi emulation I've ever used in any Windows version, and as your device name for a dosbox midi support configuration file is midi=win32, it works transparently with all of your midi emulated Win8.x games...simply cannot recommend enough how this changes the entire experience! I used to go to the trouble of setting up a Gravis ultrasound emulation through dosbox--no more. Coolsoft Virtual Midi works with everything midi and is noticeably superior to the Gravis emulation, imo--and an order of magnitude easier to set up & run (nothing to it, really.)

Oh, and did I mention that this superb utility is free (voluntary donations only) and works wonderfully with win8.1x64?

If you like Win32 & Dosbox midi emulation with your winx.x64 gaming, this program is *required*...;)
