I get some error "cannot open savegame\voiceshd." when trying to restart the game after simply closing it down.

I got this error, and after mucking about a little, just reinstalled the game fresh (I just bought it a few hours ago). And the same thing happened after playing for another hour. The game played fine...but if I exit and fire it up again...it just stalls with that error message before the game even begins again.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Saves aren't automatically deleted when uninstalling so there might be something left over. If you don't care about your existing saves you can delete all that data to totally reset the game's state. That might resolve the problem.

If you're on Windows simply run the uninstaller and choose No when prompted to keep your saves. If you're on Mac OS X you'll find the stored data within ~/Library/Application Support/Boxer/Gamebox States/ ; delete Stonekeep's folder there to remove all stored data.

EDIT: if you're on Windows note that you shouldn't install the game into Program Files on Windows Vista and newer if you did that for some reason; GOG deliberately used a different folder by default to avoid potential issues.
