Hi All,
Still Life wasn't working for me on Windows 10 - I could launch the game but the opening cutscene would always freeze/stutter randomly at some point and there was no way to skip past it even to get into the game.
I tried a few different things that are suggested such as editing the Registry / Compatibility modes and none of that helped.
However I did notice that if I press the " ` " (button next to '1') I could see the FPS and it was at 1,000 which I had a feeling was the problem.
Now if you go to this link:
(Thanks GOG - won't let me post links, but if you google: pcgaming wiki still life it'll be the first link).
If you scroll to the bottom you'll see:
Issues fixed • Link
Vsync (Always on) not working on Windows 10 • Link
Download the d3d8to9.
Copy D3D8.DLL from the folder to the game install directory.
Download the D3D8.DLL and put it in your Still Life folder.
After this, if you click the ` you'll notice your FPS is at 60FPS and the cutscene works fine.
Not sure if this is obvious for some people, but there really aren't many trouble shooting threads out there so hopefully this helps someone.
