I've just started this game and I was wondering if it was possible to dead end myself?

There are no dead ends in Post Mortem, but you should keep in mind that are multiple endings depending on what you manage to achieve in-game. Also, you should note that some of the puzzles in the game are very difficult to solve without consulting a walkthrough.

As YavorN said, there are different endings. One of them is a bad one, which probably doesn't satifsfy you if you get it. Luckily you don't have to replay a long bit to get a better ending (all 3 endings are rather easy to get with only brief replaying, no matter which path you followed to get there).
