I am getting the error message as stated in topic.

Im using a laptop from late 2006 with Nvidia GF 7900 GT onboard. They dont make drivers for this card anymore, latest are signed 2009. DX9C are up to date.

Have tried running as admin, not as admin, in comp mode XP, 98, NT4 etc. no go.

I have the GOG version, ofcourse... :-)

Anyone sitting on a solution to my problems?
I'm having the exact same issue w/ Win7 SP1 x64 and two GF 460GTX in SLI mode. Error message see attached JPG.

Alex

Here's how I finally fixed it. This also fixed the fact that some other games like Temple Of Elemental Evil wouldn't work.
Once you're in Win nt4 mode with the appropriate boxes checked like everyone says to do, simply change your screen resolution on your desktop. You can always change it back between gaming sessions. I lowered it without any hopes of anything being any different and wallah...it worked fine when I double-clicked the game icon.
I'm having same issue with windows 10. Renderer error. Tested running compatibility testing and with win xp sp 2 and 3. Also tested downadjusting to 800/600 resolution, 1028/768. No luck. Ran as administrator as well. Running out of ideas on how to resolve this.
Ironically, I actuall ended up installing Linux as dual boot and got it working through playonlinux. For those as desperate as me to do this, this is the basic instructions:

Instaii ubuntu from this URL: https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Once completed, select ubunto software launcher and type in Playonlinux. Then install it.
Log on to gog.com website and download the windows file.
Open Playonlinux.
click install button.
Search up: the following to find the game: gog.com - still life
Select install using file.
Browser to your download folder where the install file is.
You then basically can start running the game.

I would though due to window issue also recommend to make the following change in settings for the game:

When open playonlinux you see the still life game showing. Right click on the game and select "Wine confiugration.
Select the Graphics tab
Select "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows.

The above instructions prevent you from sometimes clicking and getting outside the game. In my case doing so made the game crash.

If you follow the above instructions you should have the game fully functioning. Though it does indeed require quite alot of effert! However, in my case I pretty much tried everything and running it in Windows 10 just didn't work.
