I use neither Galaxy, nor the shipped Paradox launcher. So both are optional for sure.

With the Linux version, it is as simple as starting the game from the stellaris binary at the root of the game installation directory.
On Windows, I will not be able to help. From obermacker message, I guess starting the game from stellaris.exe would do the trick.

Thanks a lot for the idea. I added a second executable in GOG Galaxy straight to stellaris.exe and made that the default !

Good bye boring launcher.
Just putting this here in case anyone needs it. Works 100% for me with no paradox launcher installed or needed.

To play the offline installer version of Stellaris in windows without it installing/using paradox launcher follow the steps below.

Step 1: Install offline installer version of game, deselect create shortcut box during install.(do not launch game untill all steps have been completed)

Step 2: Navigate to game install folder location, locate stellaris.exe file, right click on it, select properties, select compatibility tab, tick run this program as administrator, select OK.

Step 3: Right click on stellaris.exe again, select either send to desktop(create shortcut), pin to taskbar or pin to start

Step 4: Always launch game using the newly created shortcut

Are you able to launch this without a Paradox account or the data scrapping the EULA promises so their marketing department can sell you stuff or your info?

abbayarra: yes
Thanks I had played this back in the day on Game Pass before they seemed to want to be so invasive.

I don’t have a Paradox account, and the game works without any issue. The only thing I can not use is "iron man" mode, because for some absurd reason it seems to be tied to the use of such an account.

Works fine for me - without doing step 2.

I believe the administrator thing is because if people install the game as administrator, the %userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris directory and the saves directory under it get created 'as admin' and therefore you have to run the game 'as admin' or it can't write profile info or saves.

But if you just run the installer normally (not as admin) and those directories don't already exist, they'll get created without the 'admin' flag, and you won't need to run the game as admin. If the directories already exist from a previous installation, then whether you need step 2 will depend on how the earlier install was done and whether the existing stellaris dirs have admin.

And for step 3, I right clicked on stellaris.exe in the install folder and selected 'copy', then right-clicked on the desktop and selected 'paste shortcut'. Just another way to make a shortcut to the game from the desktop. Same effect, but I think its the more familiar way of doing it. You can make the shortcut however you like, or not at all if you're willing to just find the .exe and run it directly every time you don't need a shortcut.
