Just a quick question: The soundtrack is available as zip and as DLC to be installed ... how comes?
Does the DLC change anything within the game?
the game itself uses ogg files... what you get in the DLC is flac and mp3 files

now the music dlc is the same music as in game i.e, the same songs just collected together so you have them in an easy to find place

Thanks for the answer. I assumed as much but I wasn't sure (engines like ScummVM support and look for files with different endings, so everything's possible. Could have been that the game uses flacs if avaiable and ogg if not). And there goes the DLC ... that's 2.4 Gigs more on my hard drive :)

Music isn't a 'DLC' outside of the fact that you download it and it is content, it's just considered a DLC so they can force you to buy the game if you want the soundtrack. Just unzip it, rename it (because they are always named poorly on gog) and then add to your collection, assuming you have an actual music collection on a hard drive, I'm guessing you don't.

That is the case for other games, but not for Stellaris. Stellaris' soundtrack is available in two ways: 1. Zip-File, 2. as a DLC installer for the game. The DLC installer installs files (the sound track) into the game directory. That's why I was asking if there is a difference, if the DLC installer actually changes anything in the game.

Actually the packaging of some Stellaris extras, including the soundtrack and the e-book from the "Galaxy edition" goodies, is broken in such a way that it is provided as an installable DLC (so some .sh/.exe/.pkg installer) instead of the expected .zip archive.

I'm quite sure there is nothing to see here but a long-standing packaging issue that is not going to be fixed anytime soon ;)
