I'm thinking of switching to steam from now on since gog is not going to keep up with the times of games. I finally got this star trek addon. I had to run the game from the local directory but it needs patch 1.4 to run. The ONLY place you can get this patch is steam.
if you have the game on Gog then you also have a Paradox key for their build which is another option for people that don't like Steam

the star wars mod is made for Steam and Steam is different to Gog or Paradox builds so;
Yes it is possible to make this mod work on Gog but you need to do some of the coding yourself ... out of the box = no

Yes it possible to download the mod files from Steam workshop and other 3rd party servers

for most people that want to play the Star wars mod [without knowing code from their backside] Steam is the best option

p.s, Gog has nothing to do with making a 3rd party mod work on a Paradox made game
I would like to see gog add a mod section to their setup like steam and try and attract modders to gog. It reallt is in their best interest to stay competetive with steam

grinsel: u need to change the .mod file to start/see it on the launcher:

name="ST: New Horizons Local/GOG"
path="mod/newhorizons"
replace_path="gfx/loadingscreens"
tags={
"Star Trek"
"Total Conversion"
}
supported_version="2.1.*"

greetings

G-man
my version looks like this but my mods are in documents\paradox\stellaris\mods

version="2.6.1"
tags={
"Total Conversion"
"Star Trek"
}
name="ST: New Horizons"
supported_version="2.6.1"
remote_file_id="688086068"

bssybeep: I managed to download some mods, but after extracting them to documents/paradox interactive/stellaris/mod, moving the mod file into the "mod" directiory, and enabling it in the start menu. I still do not see the mod in game. Anybody have any luck actually activating mods in the GOG version?
ok fingured this out for anymod to use it on gog you just use the mod maker that comes with the launcher. Make a mod folder and then copy and paste the mod contents into that folder and there it goes.

version="1"
tags={
"Overhaul"
}
name="Star Trek Horizons Paradox Port"
supported_version="2.6.1"
path="C:/Users/pc/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/horizons2"

just put all the files from the horizon mod into the directory you chose to create and done.

GOG stellaris accepts steam mods as is, not sure why there's so much trouble, perhaps the sites that distribute steam mods for stellaris miss something? I don't have to do anything, steam downloads stellaris mods and then I can play them with GOG stellaris without any issues.
