This is a simple guide on how to install the Star Trek New Horizons mod:

1: Download the main mod and sub mods from Steam using a third party website. I recommend https://www.steamworkshopdownloader.io/ but you use it at your own risk. I've used this site a few times now with no issues.

Main Mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=688086068
Music Mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1343811959
UI Mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=685413774

Note: I recommend the Federation UI, but there many different UI's available including a general UI. You can only have one active at a time but you can have them all installed.

2: Extract each mod using whatever program you want. I recommend: https://www.7-zip.org/

3: Rename each mod. I recommend using st_new_horizons, st_new_horizons_music & st_new_horizons_ui_federation respectively.

4: Place each mods folder into Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod. If the mod folder does not exist, create a new folder and call it "mod".

5: Copy the descriptor.mod file from EACH mod into the Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod folder. Rename each descriptor.mod file to each corresponding mod folders name. For example, if the main mod folder is called st_new_horizions rename that mods descriptor.mod to st_new_horizions.mod

6: Open st_new_horizions.mod and find path="" and change it to path="mod/st_new_horizons" using Notepad or some other text editor. Save.

7: Do the same for st_new_horizons_music.mod & st_new_horizons_ui_federation.mod respectively, changing or adding path="mod/st_new_horizons_music" or path="mod/st_new_horizons_ui_federation".

8: Start Stellaris and enable each mod in the launcher. If it says music is out of date you can safely ignore this or update the version number in st_new_horizons_music.mod.

9: Test. If you are having issues, post below and maybe someone can help you.

Uhm, hello and thanks for the guide. I have tried this method and it works with each mod I have made a test except with Star Trek New Horizons.

Launcher says the mod has a wrong path and can't load the game, with the option to activate the mod greyed out.

Anyone knows how to resolve this?

Is the game up to date? Is the main mod folder for new horizons in Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod? Did you copy the descriptor.mod file from the main mod folder to Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod, rename it, and edit the path to path="mod/st_new_horizons" or whatever you called the main mod folder?

If the it is saying the path is wrong then most likely you have the path set wrong in the st_new_horizons.mod file that should be in Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod.
It should be up to date installed it four days ago.

Yes I did rename, copy descriptor, rename descriptor, edited the path. I tried with two other mods to see if was something else, but they work. Then redownloaded ST mod again, tried it all again and nope, same result. It's quite strange.

Question, in the path you have to actually only change the last part, no? Because if I paste the actual normal way the path is on which the mod is, It even disappears from the mod manager.

Path as it is now: "
path="/home/grinsel/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/688086068_st_new_horizons (1)"

After this it has a remote_file

It appears in the mod manager but greyed out, doesn't let me activate it saying the that the path is wrong.
It does the same with "
path="/mod/newhorizons"

(changed name again, tried with only this as path).
Resolved. I am not actually sure what it was the issue, made a repair of the game installation and copied the path from one of the other mods.

Thank you for your help :D
I loved B irth of the Federation game back in the day. I've been trying to download the files but the primary file keeps failing. I've been able to download the music and ui files as recommended, but the other file just keeps failing. Is there any other way to get it, shame it's not offered here too.
got the file

music file sats incompatible, says for 2.6 version
very nice so far
when I open the descriptor files in win 10 there is no "PATH" line only this
version="3.0.*"
tags={
"Balance"
"Buildings"
"Diplomacy"
"Events"
"Economy"
"Fixes"
"Font"
"Galaxy Generation"
"Gameplay"
"Leaders"
"Graphics"
"Utilities"
"Translation"
"Total Conversion"
"Technologies"
"Species"
"Spaceships"
"Loading Screen"
"Military"
"Overhaul"
"Sound"
}
name="ST: New Horizons"
supported_version="3.0.3"
remote_file_id="688086068"

so when adding the line where should I place it? at the start of the file or the end?

@GrimReefur the path for Gog depends on where you installed the game/ unlike Steam

these notes are for the fallen republic mod but the basic steps apply
