just a heads up that todays patch is a super lag game killer... even if you start a fresh game it will grind to a stop and be unplayable which is odd since the stated point is to fix lag caused by 3.3.3 two days before

I did a quick check but did not notice any performance issue with 3.3.4.
Keeping in mind that I am playing on Linux, so what you saw might be an issue specific to Windows.
