Hello,

after i updated Stellaris via gog galaxy to the 2.2.3 version, i keep getting the "Checksum is Modified" warning when i try to start a new game.

Since i would like to earn achievements this is rather annoying.

I already cleared the paradox folder, uninstalled - reinstalled (with gog galaxy/ without), cleared cache etc.
Nothing worked so far.

Has anyone the same problem and came up with a solution?

Thanks

Same here. I just bought the game... I'm thinking of returning it and buying on steam. :(

you should, for some stupid reason GoG keeps their stable branch as the ever changing Beta branch.

so if you want to play with anyone on steam, they need to toggle into the beta build. and this also means because the beta branch is always updating, the game can become broken at any time!.

best to get it on steam if you can.

the current gog version is 1960
it sounds like you have an old mod still in your mod list or you can try updating galaxy itself because a new patch came out about two days ago... anyway gog and paradox are working fine for me
Edit yes sorry... You can start a new game but not earn until the paradox server catches up

p.s, you can of course just rollback to 555a which was the patch from 10 days ago and what everyone else in Steam is still using

This isn't the case there is definitely something screwed with GOGs version, I am having multiplayer issues with GOG versions. It shows the checksum as blank on the actual servers.

I have another post open about this, I own the game + all DLC on GOG and the base game on Steam. I have taken a few screenshots showing that no matter what version you're running on GOG you likely won't be able to play with people on Steam.

They are running different versions (somehow).

EDIT: ussnorway found out what the problem was for this particular issue! See the topic "2.2.3 Multiplayer not working" for the answer, I think it may be a different issue to what was originally being discussed here.

Somebody done f*cked up.

Somewhere in the 2.2.3 GOG version is a version checksum string that ended up blank.

So if you try to start a new SP game, you'll get Checksum warnings and none of your SP games will be eligble for achievements.

If you try to start an MP game, you won't be able to connect to anyone on a non-GOG version (and maybe even GOG, I haven't tried) because the checksums won't match.

Kind of hard to tell who might have screwed up here. If Paradox is doing GOG builds and shipping them direct to GOG, then it's obviously their probllem.

If GOG is taking a Paradox beta build and doing (insert unknown things here) to prepare it for Galaxy or whatnot, then it is GOG's problem.

Either way this seems to be an issue with 2.2.3 GOG only. The Paradox store version, while also mainlining the steam beta branches (why!!!???) does not suffer from the same problem.

if you follow this post from another thread it will solve the problem, i can confirm.

Does not work for me. I tried the steps outlined there and re-installed with no luck. I emailed GOG Support.. hopefully they address it shortly.

I've had the same thing.
Bought the game new around a week ago, haven't done anything with mods, the game is completely vanilla 2.2.3 (With all official expansions)
When starting a new single-player Ironman game, it tells me that achievements are disabled due to invalid checksum.
I've re-validated the install, which doesn't change anything.

Does the GOG version actually *have* achievements? I'm not seeing them in GOG Galaxy anywhere.

Galaxy doesn't but you can earn them for your PDX account.
