This one is happening running it off an ext4-formatted USB key on a Chromebook running GalliumOS (basically Ubuntu Xenial).

My network interfaces consist, on this wifi-only laptop, of a wifi interface (up) and a work VPN (disconnected thus down, so shouldn't affect anything, but possibly the library is trying to do something with the downed interface?):
