(0.499 to 0.501) 0.501 211 MB (Sure)
(0.501 to 0.502) 0.502 179 MB (Makes sense)
(0.552 to 0.553) 0.553 187 MB (Whooo... What happened?)

There's no patch from 502 to 522? It just jumps wildly...

My goal of course is to update the game to 0.553b. I'm on 0.502 currently. I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do?
Is the dev telling me I can't patch from 502 to 522 and I should download the 0.553b version of the game entirely?

I realize some people might just say to download the game entirely if your unsure but I live in the forests of Oregon in the USA. I'm lucky to have enough bandwidth to watch a youtube video on the lowest quality. Downloading almost 7 gigs is an all day affair possibly multiple day affair.

Does anyone know what the dev's intentions where here?

Thanks

The dev has been really good about replying quickly to posts. So I'm sure you'll get an answer.

It almost looks like maybe it's a typo and should say 0.502 to 0.503, but yeah, it should technically say 0.502 to 0.553 to make it easier for us to understand the patch progression if 0.553 is the current patch.

Thank you for responding gog2002x. That's what it felt like to me. Like someone just made a typo.

Thanks again

I had a chance to look at the GOG forum today and it looks like it went from 0.502 to 0.550. There's a pinned thread at the very top and the seems the dev has commited to keeping us up to date moving foward. Not sure of the large skip in versions, but at least now you can keep track here on GOG.

I been giving this some thought. I know that the Stellar Tactics team is small and they do most of there forum work on steam. Given that I think maybe the dev is posting updates rapidly on steam. Maybe he's working so rapidly that he's already on his second or third update before he post to GOG? In any case it's not clear what update does what so I'm just going to re-download the whole thing every now and then. It's a bummer but until he starts valuing his GOG customers I guess that's just the way it's going to have to be.

Just to clarify patches and patch progression. Every build is released on GOG within 20-30 minutes of a release on Steam. I always make sure I build both the Steam and GOG versions before pushing content to both platforms. The versions are always the same - that is, if it's on Steam, the same version is posted here. At times I may add a "b" to the version number so I can separate Steam VS GOG for support.

There is a longer delay after posting a build on GOG - I'm not sure why, though I think it's related to GOG's back end and how they build individual patches.

I realize many people who buy games on GOG dislike the idea of using the Galaxy application and rely on the standalone installers. The Galaxy application is the fastest way to get patches and insure the game is up to date. I've seen weeks between when I post a patch and the standalone installers are built. This is done by GOG and I don't have any control over the standalone installers.

As far as version numbers - these are not designed as incremental numeric releases. In general, I do my own testing which increments the game version number as I develop new content. So, for example, I may test through 5 - 10 builds before I'm satisfied everything is as stable and bug-free as possible. It then gets tested by a few other people who usually find a few more bugs that need to be fixed before release - again incrementing build numbers.

I just thought I would respond to the thread since it seems there is some confusion around build numbers. I do not separate internal build versioning and release versioning as it would make version control a bit more difficult.
Thank you for clarifying all that, really appreciate it and great work on all the updates.
