Any ideas how to get the Game to download. it has failed 3 times and i am not an exceedingly patient person

No idea. I just tried to install it with Gog Galaxy. After downloading a bit it failed. I exited Galaxy and relaunched it and after a moment it automatically continued installing it again, picking up where it left off. But again the download failed after a bit. After a third time of it failing, I went to the extras section for the game and attempted to download the offline installer through Galaxy and that seemed to be downloading extremely slow.

This problem seems to be at least 3 months old. This is unacceptable.
