This game has a great soundtrack; it should really be in the Extras.

Way back when there was the Muckyfoot Website, they offered the tool... If you [GOG] have permission, why not use it?

**BTW, here is another resource for the game (though many of it's links are now dead :( )

Does this mean that nobody wants the soundtrack as MP3's?

Doesn't count for me, I've had the MP3's for years; but I am surprised that no one else has posted a reply encouraging GoG to provide them.
I agree with you. The soundtrack is pretty sweet. It should be an extra. I just finished the single player missions. :)

A friend of mine managed to extract the soundtrack from the game a year ago using a little third party program, last week I managed to convince him to extract them again and submit them to GOG or Youtube at least but he hasn't gotten around to do it yet. I think I will ground him next time I see him.

Funny thing about the soundtrack, you remember these long moments of silence in between each tracks when you were playing the game? These moments of silence are actually in the track themselves, each tracks have two or three minutes of silence before they starts and one more minute after they stop playing. I think it's because he'll have to remove all this silence from the tracks once more that he hasn't found the motivation to do it yet. I'll bug him some more, stay tuned.

Maybe they couldn't get the legal rights to sell it as an extra. I'm guessing if they could they would (as soundtracks are the #1 kind of requested bonus item), but you could always email them about it.

I have, but it's possible Firek doesn't work with them anymore.

I've had the MP3's for years myself; and I've posted links to the official extractor app.

If Gog won't ~for whatever reason (and they may indeed have one), anyone interested can extract them themselves from their own copy.

I just thought it would be a cool extra bonus. :)

I got your message, but couldn't go through it for a while. Sorry about not replying.

The fact of the matter is, we simply cannot release the soundtrack, due to circumstances beyond our control. :(

Ah... That explains a lot.Sorry to hear it, but it happens. It's funny how the sound is always a sticking point for releasing old game.
I'm even more interested in those modding guides for which all the links are dead. Does anyone happen to have those or know where they might exist still? Those would definitely make a good extra and surely there would not be any copyright issues as there are with soundtracks.
Is there any program to rip the music files? Someone in the thread mentioned his friend did it but I cannot find one that works with TFA/TFB file extensions.
Just FYI, I believe some of the songs can be downloaded by using the description links in this playlist.

For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AoeyagCHN8&list=PL5TjkSYDgzOHhRCUvS-uSKWxxXre9MOgK

"Download link (single MP3 file): http://minus.com/lNXXB6NkhMDKo "
I'v just found music files for 6 tracks (I don't know if there are more of them in-game):
http://www.strategyplanet.com/startopia/files.shtml

Half of them have been uploaded by Mucky Foot, so I guess these are legal uploads.

It's mp3 only, sorry FLAC addicts!
(I'm one myself)
