The ship appears, then it doesn't appear that the model is stretching out towards me, and the black menu thing pops up, but the buttons are missing. They flicker in and out in like, seconds. I've tried all the fixes suggested in the 'flickering' question.

Nvida GTS 8800, recently updated, not sure what to do.

Try opening the NVIDIA manager and changing the settings there for StarTopia.exe to the most basic.

I fixed it, just restarted my computer and it finally works. Sorry to take so long to say this.

The newest NVIDIA drivers completely cleared this issue up for me (Geforce GTS 360M running 331.82). I haev no idea what might have changes, but I'm now running with hardware acceleration!
