I have just purchased this amazing game from my past and I have a little problem with the screen. The screen will randomly flicker for no obvious reason that I can think of. I first thought it was my mouse but it still happens even when I don't move it. Any thoughts anyone?

Windows 7 64bit
Intel i5 2500K
GTX 570 (Graphics)
GTX460 (Physx)
Creative Soundblaster Recon 3D
16GB Ram

All drivers are up to date with the latest certified drivers as is windows.

There should be an easy fix for that. I was experiencing the same thing so I looked at the video options again, and as I suspected one option was the culprit: vsync. Just change that to 'blit' (whatever that may mean). It'll look the same and run just as well... and no flickering, of course.

Yeah, thanks for that. I love GOG's forum.

I have certain items (like a room under construction) flickering, but this is paired with massive, slow, stuttering in sync with the flicker. It's so random I have not yet found a cause, but is this the same issue you describe or did you not have the stuttering? Thanks!

No it was not. The whole screen would flicker randomly for me but with no slow down with the game at all. I take it that you have triied changing the Vsync options?

Thanks. I have, and for the last hour or so I played it worked fine, so time will tell.
Hi i have still been having major issues with flickering even after, changing vsync to blit, i even forced off vsync in the nvidia control panel. It seems to become more or less aggressive depending on the video options setup but havn't been able to eliminate it.

Same here, changing to blit makes no difference. Unless you need a game restart?
I'm on a nvidia card and experienced the flickering too until I forced Adaptive Vsync on my card's control panel.
the is same problem whit me as well the solved did not make it go away for me
The above solutions didn't work for me until I made a change that caused the 'Apply' button to become enabled.
So, after I changed the Vsync to Blit I had to toggle the 'Transform and Lighting' option to 'Software' and then back to 'Hardware' to cause the 'Apply' button to enable itself. Clicked 'Apply' and all is well now.

Hope this helps.

I just want to confirm this part of the solution. It seems that just changing the Vsync is not enough--something else has to be changed and then applied. (I then changed the other setting back to its original state after applying.) Quirky interface, but a wonderful game.
Changing to blit doesn't seem to work for me. Tried messing around with various settings, but nothing has made any discernible difference. Anyone know of anything else that might be worth trying?
