I'm simply posting this here incase anyone else runs into this problem.
When I started up Startopia for the first time, the screen was flashing, the menu's didn't load properly, etc. I expected AMD Crossfire to be the culprit, and it turns out I was right. To fix this problem on systems using Crossfire, simply go to the install directory of Startopia and rename "startopia.exe" to "ForceSingleGPU.exe" (and edit your Startopia shortcut on your desktop to reflect this change).
